DAY 75
Isaiah is a miniature Bible
I’d like to give my wife credit for uncovering this little nugget from a book she uses to help her with Bible study: “What the Bible is all about” by Dr Henrietta C. Mears. page 252 says this: In structure, Isaiah is a miniature Bible. Isaiah has 66 chapters just as the Bible has 66 books. Isaiah has 2 great divisions, just as there are in the Bible, with 39 chapters in the first (like the Old Testament) and 27 chapters in the second (like the New Testament)
Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 53:4-5 (KJV)
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
If you haven’t studied Isaiah yet, I would encourage you to take it up as a project. There is so much in there to get the big picture from a relatively small book.
