10/19/18 Daily Bible Reading: Isaiah 64-65, Hebrews 5, Proverbs 19

Isaiah 64:4-6 (NKJV)
For since the beginning of the world Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him. You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways. You are indeed angry, for we have sinned– In these ways we continue; And we need to be saved. But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.

All of our (self) righteousness are like filthy rags. Without God’s righteous covering we will never stand in God’s presence.

Isaiah 64:6 (AMP)
For we have all become like one who is unclean [ceremonially, like a leper], and all our righteousness (our best deeds of rightness and justice) is like filthy rags or a polluted garment; we all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away [far from God’s favor, hurrying us toward destruction].

Hebrews 5:5-6 (NKJV)
So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.[Psa 2:7]” As He also says in another place: “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek [Psa 110:4]”;
