Day 16 Fruit of the spirit Joy
Galatians 5:22-26 (ESV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Okay the context of Galatians 5 is showing the difference between carnality(walking in the flesh) and spirituality(God’s Spirit in you). Notice that the word fruit in verse 22 is singular, not plural. These are not fruits of the spirit but evidence of the Holy spirit within manifesting these attributes in you. In other words, making you more like Jesus.
Today I am focusing on Joy. This is the Greek word chara Gladness, Greatly, Joy, Joyfulness, Joyfully, Joyous (Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary) these all imply an internal source versus an external thing that makes you happy. “I have great joy being in the service of God”.
Psalm 126:5-6 (KJV) They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
Matthew 25:21 (ESV) His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’
