Daily Service: Heartily

Daily Service – Heartily

Colossians 3:23 NKJV And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,

Here’s a heart searching question for all of us:  Why do you do what you do every day? What is your motivation?  I’ve just spent a day not feeling well, trying to concentrate and things just kept going wrong.  What I discovered when I sat and thought about it for a bit was a bit like Peter when he looked around and saw the waves and the tempest and began to sink, mainly because he took his eye off the Lord.  You can look that one up, I’ve talked about it before.  The whole day was wasted fussing over what wasn’t going right, and God was up there shaking his head again. So while I’m here let me drop a few more words on you.

Matthew 14:29-31 (KJV) And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

1 John 1:8-10 (ESV) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
