Bible Reading Enhances Any Day (BREAD)

1/14/19 Daily Bible Reading: Genesis 27-28, Psalm 4-6

Okay so we’re back to yesterday’s story and we haven’t quite seen how much deceit a mother will do for her favorite son:

Genesis 27:5-8 (ESV) Now Rebekah was listening when Isaac spoke to his son Esau. So when Esau went to the field to hunt for game and bring it, Rebekah said to her son Jacob, “I heard your father speak to your brother Esau, ‘Bring me game and prepare for me delicious food, that I may eat it and bless you before the LORD before I die.’ Now therefore, my son, obey my voice as I command you.

To spite his father, Esau marries a daughter of Ishmael. If you have been following along this is definitely not good.

Genesis 28:8-9 (ESV) So when Esau saw that the Canaanite women did not please Isaac his father, Esau went to Ishmael and took as his wife, besides the wives he had, Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebaioth.

Psalm 4:4-6 (AMP) Be angry [or stand in awe] and sin not; commune with your own hearts upon your beds and be silent (sorry for the things you say in your hearts). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! Offer just and right sacrifices; trust (lean on and be confident) in the Lord. Many say, Oh, that we might see some good! Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O Lord.
