Daily Service: Giving Thanks for what you have

I was reminded of the passages below recently when we arrived at our church for a Wednesday night service and found that once again the power was messed up and we couldn’t run the air conditioners or the sound system. The building was hot because of the warm day that had just ended. We wound up doing prayer and a few songs on the porch while rain tried to drown us out. One of the founding members of the Guam Pentecostal Church reminded us that we in the past have had service on a beach, in a community center that smelled, and in a commercial space that was too small.
No matter what, we need to be thankful for what we do have instead of miserable over what we don’t have.
Matthew 6:11 (KJV) Give us this day our daily bread.
Philippians 4:12 (NKJV) I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things, I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
Proverbs 30:8-9 (KJV) Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
Proverbs 30:9 (NKJV) Lest I be full and deny You, and say, “Who is the LORD?” Or lest I be poor and steal, and profane the name of my God.

I still have one question of yours still echoing in my mind – “What if you woke up today with only the things you thanked God for yesterday”
I try to find thought-provoking material. That’s also why I like your stuff. There’s always more to war than Hollywood shows for example. But back to the God thing. I don’t know where you are on the God thing but it’s something we could talk about.
I’m a Catholic, but was raised to learn and respect other religions.
Sorry, I wasn’t asking what religion you followed, I am asking what you believe. I stress relationship, not religion.
