My pastor was just talking about this in conjunction with his Sunday School Lesson “Look unto the Fields”
Matthew 9:35-38 (NKJV) Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Smile and say hello to people you meet. It makes them feel good and it opens the door to further conversation
Encourage and build up people around you, especially people in service jobs that never hear a good word.
Look for the good in any situation instead of finding what’s wrong.
If you are out walking around and you see some trash blowing around the parking lot, pick it up and put it in the trash.
If you encounter a problem, look for a solution. Instead of complaining, suggest a better way.
Encourage yourself. Look in the mirror and say, “I can do this”.
Ask God to help you in tough situations instead of giving up.
I challenge similar minded Christians to help me support this with scriptures.
Ecclesiastes 9:9-10 (NKJV) Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your vain life which He has given you under the sun, all your days of vanity; for that is your portion in life, and in the labor which you perform under the sun. Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
And a final thought, recently expressed here: You may be the only Jesus they will ever meet or, you may be the only Bible they will ever read.
You think about that. Amen!
