Thoughts from the road: Cages

I was talking with a couple of our church ladies after service last night about that TED TALKS video I posted yesterday concerning addiction.

I won’t rehash the whole video but something the guy said right toward the end got my attention: we are all in cages of our own making. The question is whether you are in that cage alone or if you are in a Rat Park where you can connect with others and not feel alone. That is the difference between life and addiction leading to death.

Think about that when you are in a crowd feeling alone. Are you looking down at your phone or are you looking up and engaging?

Another input from another video about addiction – to your cell phone. When you have a for real crisis your 3000 Facebook friends won’t be holding you while you cry.

Just so you know, I see myself in all of this too.

Romans 8:31 NKJV What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
