Daily Service: I’ll turn to God Later

Updated from previous editions

Of course, the current scare is COVID19.  I’ll get right to the point.  Whether you believe it or not, God is real.  Whether you choose to follow God or not, that’s up to you.  But every day you don’t decide, you really do make the decision not to follow Christ.

How many stories of untimely or unplanned deaths do I need to tell you before you understand that your life is but a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow?  Do you know exactly when you are going to die?  Probably not. If you are aware of God but put off making a salvation decision let me offer a few “did, they know?” scenarios.

Did 3000 people know they were going to die on 9/11?

Did the 14-year-old girl walking down Route 15 know a dump truck would run her down?

Do you have any guarantee you won’t develop and aneurism and die in 24 hours?

Did a 68-year-old woman know that COVID 19 was going to kill her this week?

Life is not guaranteed, and life after death is one of two things: Heaven forever or Hell forever.  No exceptions.

James 4:14 ESV Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

Psalm 144:4 ESV Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.

Proverbs 27:1 ESV Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.

John 3:16-17 (NKJV) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Acts 2:36-39 (NKJV) “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
