Daily Service: You have left your first love

Updated from previous versions

Do any of you remember when you met the love of your life?

For some of us it has been many years.

Do you remember when you couldn’t stand to be apart?

When you would stay on the phone for hours and not say anything, just listening to her breathe (at least I did)?

How many of you after a long while in a relationship have a hard time finding time for each other or have little to say to each other.

It is a fact that many divorces happen after the kids are grown and gone and the couple finds they don’t know each or their goals are entirely different.

That’s what God is saying to the church at Ephesus (you do recognize the behaviors right?

How is your relationship with God right now?

Do you spend hours in His Word, hours in prayer, hours in praise and worship?

Or do you find it hard to get to church on Sunday?

Love them like Jesus

Revelation 2:1-7 (NKJV) “angel of the church of Ephesus write, ‘These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lamp stands: I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not and have found them liars; and you have persevered and have patience and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless, I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place–unless you repent. But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” ‘

As we wrestle with reacting to a pandemic and facing economic uncertainty, take some time with God and re-evaluate your relationship.  And when you are done with that, do the same with your spouse if you have one.
