Daily Service: Is God the Center of your life?

Matthew 10:38-39 (ESV) And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Is God the suit you put on Sunday and leave in the closet the rest of the week? I was challenged by my Pastor’s message recently, and everything I have been studying and reading since then keeps coming back to a challenge: Is God the center of my life, or is He on my to-do list?

I opened Daily Service 4 looking for a template for a message I had in mind and the first post Day 1 is titled “I’m all in”. So here are two thought streams meshing together.

Philippians 1:21 (ESV) For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Psalm 77:2 (ESV) In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord; in the night my hand is stretched out without wearying; my soul refuses to be comforted.

Deuteronomy 6:5 (ESV) {Matt 22:37, Mark 12:30, Luke 10:27, 2Kings 23:25} You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV) {Ps 37:3,5} Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and {Jeremiah 9:23}do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways {1Chr 28:9} acknowledge him, and he {Ps73:24} will make straight your paths.

Matthew 22:37-40 (ESV) And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
