Lifting up God’s people
Updated for Volume 10
If the Bible were full of perfect people who never do wrong, you might feel unworthy when you read your Bible (and the same goes for many church people). You might be discouraged and not pursue a relationship with Christ where you can never be good enough.
But I read about Abram/Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, and Samson and I see people that were willing but imperfect people that God used.
I like the song “Nobody” a lot because I did not see myself as worth much until God got ahold of me.
Judges 20:22 (NKJV) And the people, that is, the men of Israel, encouraged themselves and again formed the battle line at the place where they had put themselves in an array on the first day.
Isaiah 41:7 (NKJV) So the craftsman encouraged the goldsmith; He who smooths with the hammer inspired him who strikes the anvil, Saying, “It is ready for the soldering”; Then he fastened it with pegs, That it might not totter.
1 Samuel 30:6 (NKJV) Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.
1 Samuel 30:6 (KJV) And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
A final thought: you do not need to get good to get God, you need God to get good.
