Lifting up God’s people
Updated for Volume 11
Matthew 7:1-3 (NKJV) “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?
John 8:7 (NKJV) So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.”
I had another two conversations with my older church sisters. 1) Why do we insist that we know best when God is offering better to everyone? 2) Why do we as Christians judge non-Christians for not behaving properly like a Christian?
So that was two different questions, but they are not so far off from each other. This is about our attitude and our behavior toward those around us. My two sisters in Christ agreed that all of us struggle with pride and find ourselves judging others instead of ourselves.
Proverbs 16:18 (KJV) Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
1 Peter 4:16-19 (KJV) Yet if any man suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begins at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
