Daily Service – Growing the Body of Christ

Daily Service – Growing the Body of Christ

Update for Volume 11

In prayer recently a dear sister in Christ and I came up with the same burden.  Not for specific people, but for our whole congregation.  That we might all grow our faith in Christ and follow through with his ministries wherever we find ourselves.

I put it to you that this is a worthy assignment.  Whoever you are, if you believe in Christ as your savior, we are all part of the body of Christ. Forget local congregations, denominational differences, language barriers or any other such things we us as excuses for not being more effective in our prayer life, our fellowship, our outreach, our proper behavior.

1 Corinthians 7:20-24 (NKJV) Let each one remain in the same calling in which he was called. Were you called while a slave? Do not be concerned about it; but if you can be made free, rather use it. For he who is called in the Lord while a slave is the Lord’s freedman. Likewise, he who is called while free is Christ’s slave. You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men. Brethren let each one remain with God in that state in which he was called.

Ephesians 2:19-22 (NKJV) Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone, in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Try this before you go to church this week.  Pray for God’s forgiveness for yourself and for your family.  Ask God to be with you as you gather for worship. Go into the sanctuary ready to praise God, not taking several minutes or the entire service to get in sync with God.  If we all make more of an effort to do this, you will find your services more uplifting for everyone including your visitors.

Visitors need to feel like God met them at the door and made them feel at home. Then God can begin working in their hearts so that they may receive the Gospel.

Now I am going to repeat some familiar scriptures, but I want you to pray on them before you gather with your congregation again.

Psalm 51:10-12 (ESV) Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and uphold me with a willing spirit.

Ephesians 4:21-24 (ESV) Assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

Please feel free to add more.  If you get where I am going with this help me add scriptures that help you enter into His Presence.
