Daily Service – Fear Not to check up on things

Updated for Volume 12

There are 365 Fear Nots in the Bible?? From my wife’s Tecarta devotion today. “According to Pastor Rick Warren”.  Which of course already made me suspect falsehood.

I have 331 in KJV with the “within 3 words” parameter set.

Here’s an example on what you are not looking for:

Leviticus 19:14 (KJV) Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD.

Here’s what we should look for:

Genesis 15:1 (KJV) After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.

So, I did a Google search and found every single time the claim was made it was disputed by research.  I found the article and PDF included here at

The bottom line of here post was that we shouldn’t need to be told 365 times by God to fear not, we should only need one. But she, like I, came away with:

1 John 4:1 (ESV) Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

The New King James Version. (1982). (2 Ti 1:7). Nashville: Thomas Nelson.
