9/11/01 is a time to remember the fallen and honor their sacrifice; it is a time to remember the families that share in that sacrifice everyday; and it is a time to reflect on our own mortality and utter dependence on God. There are countless, and in many cases nameless, men and woman who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend the freedom certainly worth defending, in that spirit we’ve collected the top Bible verses for to remember the fallen and used The Passion Translation to shed a fresh perspective on some of these well known Bible verses for memorializing this day.
For the greatest love of all is a love that sacrifices all. And this great love is demonstrated when a person sacrifices his life for his friends. – John 15:13 (The Passion Translation)
There is no higher expression of love then to give up your very life – to be willing to leave family and friends behind, knowing death is immanent. To the many brave heroes who have gone before, thank you for your sacrifice of love.
“Defend the defenseless, the fatherless and the forgotten, the disenfranchised and the destitute. Your duty is to deliver the poor and the powerless; liberate them from the grasp of the wicked. – Psalm 82:3-4 (The Passion Translation)
When one of God’s holy lovers dies, it is costly to the Lord, touching his heart. – Psalm 116:15 (The Passion Translation)
The lives of who belong to the God are the Lord’s, he did not suffer them to fall until their work was done; and when the Lord finally took His own home, even their death is precious to the Lord as they are reunited with Him.
