Book: Lamentations

Author: Not stated but traditionally attributed to Jeremiah.

Date: Probable around 586 BC, shortly after the fall of Jerusalem to the Babylonians.

In ten words or less: A despairing poem about the destruction of Jerusalem.

Lamentations 1:22 (NKJV) “Let all their wickedness come before You, And do to them as You have done to me For all my transgressions; For my sighs are many, And my heart is faint.”

Hebrews 10:1 (NKJV) For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect.
