O’Neill is back and we get a back story this time. Love stories are messed up by curses, and unrequited love for a mermaid (starts out as a girl and changes to her true nature). O’Neill, Clara, and Maren could have been raised together except for the curse that separates Ezra and Verity. Clara believes she will also transform into a stork but it turns out to be a misunderstanding. There is enough evil around to keep the story interesting; Dr. Phipps, who uses control and trickery to keep his menagerie in line.
