Daily Service: Stand in the gap

Proverbs 24:11-12 (ESV) [Isa 58:6-7, Ps 82:4] Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” [Eccl 5:8] does not he who [1Sam16:7] weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who [Ps 91:11] keeps watching over your soul know it, and will he not repay man [Job 34:11] according to his work?

James 4:17 (ESV) [Luke 12:47-48, 2Pet2:21, John 9:41] So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

There is a lot to consider with all the cross-references, but my attention was drawn to Proverbs 24:11 when it was paired with James 4:17.  You know by experience that God saved you from a lot.  I’m trying once again to communicate that God loved us so much that He gave us Jesus as an example and an eternal lamb that was slain in your place.  If you accept that, how can you just stand by and let others perish without knowing that they are lost? Picture a watchman on the wall.
