“First Christmas at Flat River (First Families of Flat River, #1)

First Christmas at Flat River by Christine Sterling
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Back to the beginning, I think. I saw First Families and wondered so I downloaded this little preHoliday gem. This is the beginning of Weston and Ingrid in Flat River Nebraska because they stopped to have a baby which was too big and too early and turned out to be twin brothers. So we see the beginning of the Chapmans in Flat River. I had fun with it and the Christmas story from the Bible set the tone for me.

Adventurer Ingrid Aland is heartbroken when she hears Weston Chapman has decided to join a wagon train headed west. All her dreams of marriage, children, and living surrounded by family are about to die in an instant unless she steps out in faith and lets Wes know her feelings, and follows him into the great unknown.

Weston Chapman has heard the stories of extreme hardship on the trail. Subjecting a fragile Ingrid to those is the last thing he wants to do. It doesn’t matter that he is leaving his heart behind in Boston. He promised to send for her as soon as he settles, but Ingrid has other plans. When Weston discovers Ingrid and her best friend hidden away in the back of his wagon, he’s faced with the choice of sending her home or letting her risk her life on the trail.

Read this historical romance with strong women and swoony heroes.
