Daily Service: Who do you serve

Daily Service: Who do you serve

Updated from Daily Service 5

Not sure where the lyric bit in my head came from but it says “You’re going to serve somebody”. Ah, I found it. Bob Dylan. It was also recorded by Natalie Cole as a Christian Song.  My research also indicates many of Bob Dylan’s songs were God oriented.  Secular but he nailed it.

Understand please that there is no neutral position. You are either going to serve God or serve Satan, no middle ground. If you decide not to decide, that choice leads to death also but separated from God for eternity.  If you want a definition of hell, that’s it. My advice is that you turn to God and be a slave of righteousness as opposed to eternity separated from God, cast into the lake of fire.

Romans 6:17-19 (NKJV) But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.
And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.

Romans 6:17-19 (AMP) But thank God, though you were once slaves of sin, you have become obedient with all your heart to the standard of teaching in which you were instructed and to which you were committed. And having been set free from sin, you have become the servants of righteousness (of conformity to the divine will in thought, purpose, and action). I am speaking in familiar human terms because of your natural limitations. For as you yielded your bodily members [and faculties] as servants to impurity and ever increasing lawlessness, so now yield your bodily members [and faculties] once for all as servants to righteousness (right being and doing) [which leads] to sanctification.

The Clue of the Maze

God revealing Himself

If it be a most natural thing that the intelligent creature should trust in his Creator, and if it be necessary to that trust that he should have more knowledge of the Creator than he can gather by observing his works, is it not reasonable to suppose that the wise and beneficent Creator will enable his intelligent creatures to know him, at least so far as may be required for the purposes of faith? If it were essential to the well-being of his subjects that a king should be personally known to them, we cannot conceive of a good monarch shutting himself up entirely from public view, or refusing to address his people. True, the glory of God does not need man’s observation, nor may we suppose that God’s motive could be selfish in seeking to be known; but since man’s feeble condition needs a divine revelation, it is not unreasonable to hope that One who is supremely good would of his own accord make himself known. For rocks and trees and animals, the manifestation of God in his works of Providence, by giving them stability, fruitfulness, or food, is abundantly sufficient, and more than sufficient; but for intelligent minds there must be a manifestation of God to the soul and spirit, or else faith under many forms must be impossible, and the soul will be left in a forlorn condition. Such a forsaking of the work of his own hands we do not expect from the Infinitely Good.
The Clue of the Maze.

Faith’s Checkbook

October 22

Plead His Own Promise

“Thou, O Lord God, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.” 2Sam. 7:29

This is a promise pleaded, and so it yields double instruction to us. Anything which the Lord God has spoken we should receive as surely true, and then plead it at the throne.

Oh, how sweet to quote what our own God has spoken! How precious to use a “therefore” which the promise suggests, as David does in this verse!

We do not pray because we doubt, but because we believe. To pray unbelievingly is unbecoming in the Lord’s children. No, Lord, we cannot doubt thee: we are persuaded that every word of thine is a sure foundation for the boldest expectation. We come to thee and say, “Do as thou hast said.” Bless thy servants house. Heal our sick; save our hesitating ones; restore those who wander; confirm those who live in thy fear. Lord, give us food and raiment according to thy word. Prosper our undertakings; especially succeed our endeavors to make known thy gospel in our neighborhood. Make our servants thy servants, our children thy children. Let the blessing flow on to future generations, and as long as any of our race remains on earth may they remain true to thee. O Lord God “let the house of thy servant be blessed.”
Faith’s Checkbook.

Today’s Theme Song: Gotta Serve Somebody

Artist: Natalie Cole album: “Snowfall On The Sahara” (1999)

“Gotta Serve Somebody”

You may be an ambassador to England or France
You might like to gamble, you might like to dance
You may be the heavyweight champion of the world
You might be a socialite with a long string of pearls

But you’re gonna have to serve somebody, serve somebody
Serve somebody, serve somebody
It might be the devil or it might be the Lord
But you’re gonna have to serve somebody

You might be a rock ‘n’ roll man, prancing on the stage
Plenty of drugs at your command and women in a cage
You might be a businessman or some high degree thief
They may call you ‘Doctor’, they may call you ‘Chief’

But you’re gonna have to serve somebody, serve somebody
Oh, serve somebody, yeah, yeah, serve somebody
Oh, it may be the devil or it might be the Lord
But you’re gonna have to serve somebody

Now, you may be a State Trooper, you might be a young Turk
You may even be the head of some great big TV network
You may be rich or poor and you may be blind or chained
You might be living in another country under another name

But you’re gonna have to serve somebody, serve somebody
Oh, serve somebody, serve somebody
It might be the devil or it might be the Lord
But you’re still gonna have to serve somebody

Maybe a construction worker working on a home
Might be living in a mansion, you might live in a dome
You may own guns, you may even own tanks
You may be somebody’s landlord, you might even own banks

But you’re gonna have to serve somebody, serve somebody
Oh yeah, serve somebody, serve somebody
Oh, it might be the devil or it might be the Lord
But you’re gonna have to serve somebody

Now you can call me Terry or you might call me Moore
You may call me David or you might call me Coe
You can call me RJ or you can call me Ray
You can call me anything, I don’t care what you say

You’re gonna have to serve somebody, serve somebody
Oh, serve somebody, serve somebody
It might be the devil or it might be the Lord
But you’re gonna have to serve somebody

You may be a rock ‘n’ roll star, prancing on the stage
You got plenty of drugs at your command, you got women in a cage
You might be a big businessman or some high degree thief
Now they might call you ‘Doctor’, they might call you ‘Chief’

But you’re gonna have to serve somebody, serve somebody
Serve somebody, serve somebody
It might be the devil or it might be the Lord
But you’re gonna have to serve somebody

It might be the devil, it might be, it might be the Lord
But you’re gonna have to serve somebody, serve somebody
Oh man, you’re gonna have to serve somebody, serve somebody
Serve somebody, serve somebody
Serve somebody, serve somebody

It might be the devil or it might be the Lord
Serve somebody, serve somebody
Serve somebody, serve somebody
Serve somebody, serve somebody
Somebody, somebody
It might be the devil or it might be the Lord

Bible Reading Enhances Any Day (BREAD)

Daily Bible Reading: Jeremiah 29-30, Revelation 15

Jeremiah 29:7 (NKJV) And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you will have peace.

Jeremiah 30:1-3 (NKJV) The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, “Thus speaks the LORD God of Israel, saying: ‘Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you. For behold, the days are coming,’ says the LORD, ‘that I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah,’ says the LORD. ‘And I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.’ “

Revelation 15:4 (NKJV) Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, For Your judgments have been manifested.
