Daily Bible Reading 28 May 2018

5/28/18 Daily Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 7-9, Acts 17, Proverbs 28

2 Chronicles 7:14 (GenevaBible)
If my people, among whom my Name is called upon, do humble themselves, and pray and seek my presence, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear in heaven and be merciful to their sin, and will heal their land:

Acts 17:22-28 (NKJV)
Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you: God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’

Daily Service: He Knows

Daily Service He Knows

I awoke on a busy Sunday morning. As I was getting ready for church this song was running through my head. Actually I also felt Satan was in the mix too because I was getting “God knows you aren’t perfect”. To which I said, “I know”.

What you need to hear today is that God knows your walk and He is with you every step of the way. Even in the valley of the shadow of death. He knows.

If you don’t have this song you need it.

“He knows”

All the bitter weary ways

Endless striving day by day

You barely have the strength to pray

In the valley low

And how hard your fight has been

How deep the pain within

Wounds that no one else has seen

Hurts too much to show

All the doubt you’re standing in between

And all the weight that brings you to your knees

He knows

He knows

Every hurt and every sting

He has walked the suffering

He knows

He knows

Let your burdens come undone

Lift your eyes up to the one

Who knows

He knows

We may faint and we may sink

Feel the pain and near the brink

But the dark begins to shrink

When you find the one who knows

The chains of doubt that held you in between

One by one are starting to break free

Every time that you feel forsaken

Every time that you feel alone

He is near to the brokenhearted

Every tear

He knows

He knows

Daily Bible Reading 26 May 2018

5/26/18 Daily Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 5-6, Acts 16, Proverbs 26

 Acts 16:30-33 (NKJV)
And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized.

Finally Brethren

DAY 47

Finally Brethren

My wife just posted a picture on Facebook from her devotions this morning.  We had this verse in a message in the past 2 weeks at church and I wanted to get back to the context and see what came before Finally Brethren.  Paul is encouraging and admonishing the church at Phillipi. He wants theme to work better together (unity and love for one another). But verse 8 gets the most attention because it puts our focus on good things, not bad things.

Enjoy your weekend and thank a veteran or his family for their service this Memorial Day.

 Philippians 4:1-9 (KJV)
Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved. I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord. And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life. Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

5/25/18 Daily Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 2-4, Proverbs 26

Casting Crowns: “Who am I, that Lord of the all the Earth would care to know my name?”

2 Chronicles 2:5-6 (NKJV)
And the temple which I build will be great, for our God is greater than all gods. But who is able to build Him a temple, since heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain Him? Who am I then, that I should build Him a temple, except to burn sacrifice before Him?

Daily Bible Reading 24 May 2018

5/24/18 Daily Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 28-2 Chronicles 1, Acts 15, Proverbs 24

1 Chronicles 28:20 (NKJV)
And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD God–my God–will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

Book: 2 Chronicles

Author: Not stated but traditionally attributed to Ezra the priest.

Date: Covers the history of Israel from about 970 BC (the accension of Solomon) to about the 500s BC (when exiled Jews returned to Jerusalem).

In ten words or less: The history of Israel from King Solomon’s reign to division and destruction.

“From Know Your Bible, published by Barbour Publishing, Inc. Used by permission”

2 Chronicles 1:10-12 (NKJV)
Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of Yours?”  And God said to Solomon: “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life–but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king– wisdom and knowledge are granted to you; and I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings have had who were before you, nor shall any after you have the like.”

For those still debating that we are spiritual Jews and come under the law of Moses read Acts 15 for yourself and see what the dispute was about and what the Christian Church elders said about it.

Acts 15:22-29 (NKJV)
Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas who was also named Barsabas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren. They wrote this letter by them: The apostles, the elders, and the brethren, To the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: Greetings. Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, “You must be circumcised and keep the law”–to whom we gave no such commandment– it seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who will also report the same things by word of mouth. For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.

Daily Bible Reading 23 May 2018

5/23/18 Daily Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 25-27, Acts 14, Proverbs 23

Acts 14:23-28 (NKJV)
So when they had appointed elders in every church, and prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed. And after they had passed through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia. Now when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia. From there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had completed. Now when they had come and gathered the church together, they reported all that God had done with them, and that He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles. So they stayed there a long time with the disciples.

5/22/18 Daily Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 22-24, Acts 13, Proverbs 22

1 Chronicles 22:6-13 (KJV)
Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the LORD God of Israel. And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God: But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days. He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever. Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the LORD thy God, as he hath said of thee. Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God. Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.

Acts 13:2-3 (KJV)
As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
