9/18/18 Daily Bible Reading: Eccliastes 3-5, 1 Thessalonians 5, Proverbs 18

1 Thessalonians 5:8-10 (NKJV)
But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NKJV)
Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

(Matthew 18:20 (KJV) For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.)

Ecclesiastes 1:16-18 (NKJV)
I communed with my heart, saying, “Look, I have attained greatness, and have gained more wisdom than all who were before me in Jerusalem. My heart has understood great wisdom and knowledge.” And I set my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is grasping for the wind. For in much wisdom is much grief, And he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.

To one who listens, valid criticism is like a gold earring or other gold jewelry.

Don’t brag about tomorrow, since you don’t know what the day will bring.

1 Thessalonians 2:4 (NLT)
For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.

9/12/18 Daily Bible Reading: Proverbs 20-22

Proverbs 20:1 (AMP)
WINE IS a mocker, strong drink a riotous brawler; and whoever errs or reels because of it is not wise. [Prov 23:29-30, Isa 28:7, Hos 4:11]

20:1. Wine and beer are personified as people of degraded character: a mocker (cf. 19:25, 29) and a brawler. The idea is that wine mocks the one who drinks it and beer makes him aggressive. Yayin, the most common word for wine, usually referred to fermented grape juice but sometimes was unfermented. Beer (šēk̠ār, rendered “strong drink” in the kjv) referred to drinks made from barley, dates, or pomegranates. It was intoxicating (Isa. 28:7) and was forbidden for priests (Lev. 10:9), Nazirites (Num. 6:1-3), and others (Isa. 5:11). Intoxicating drinks can lead people astray, causing them to do foolish things. Other passages in Proverbs that condemn drunkenness are 23:20-21, 29-35; 31:4-5.

9/11/18 Daily Bible Reading: Proverbs 17-19, Colossians 4

Proverbs 19:20 (NKJV)
Listen to counsel and receive instruction, That you may be wise in your latter days.

Colossians 4:2-6 (NKJV)
Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,
that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

9/10/18 Daily Bible Reading: Proverbs 14-16, Colossians 3

Proverbs 14:6 (NLT)
A mocker seeks wisdom and never finds it, but knowledge comes easily to those with understanding.

 Colossians 3:1-3 (NLT)
Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

 Proverbs 16:24 (NLT)
Kind words are like honey— sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.

Weather Advisory 10 September 2018

Here’s my latest warning.  Note the northward track.  Guam will not get the worst of this one. Tinian however is right in the path.

I going to church this morning at Apostolic Bible Fellowship Guam. We are going to pray for protection for those who need it, help for those who require it, and faith for those who falter. Can I get a witness?✝❤📖
