Tropical Storm #Wutip Advisory 5 for #Pohnpei, #FSM, #Guam/#CNMI

WutipAdvisory5-2019-02-20-1900

We had prayer tonight in church. We have family members telling us Pohnpei and Chuuk already have rain and increasing winds.  Current Track shows #Wutip passing through the FSM islands and remaining on a track south of Guam Saturday afternoon at 120 MPH winds at the center.

Thank You

My thanks go out to all the prayer warriors that keep an eye on the Pacific.  If you happen to Google any of us, you will find the ocean is actually quite dotted with many islands and nations in the vast area known as Oceania.  The last time we had a near miss our neighbors to the North in the CNMI were not so fortunate. Large portions of Saipan are still without power from the last storm. So when I pray for a miss, I am actually praying it dissipates without causing any damage.  We have many friends and churches in the FSM to the south of us also, and friends and missions in the Philippines that get it pretty bad too.

I’m looking for a map I can post for the prayer warriors here.

oceania_australia_map.gif

This one shows most of it but Guam and CNMI are just north of the Marshalls and FSM.

Thank you all again

Daily Service – Faith and Knowledge

Daily Service – Faith and Knowledge

Anselm also thought deeply on the relationship of faith and reason. He concluded that faith is the precondition of knowledge (credo ut intelligam,”I believe in order to understand”). He didn’t despise reason; in fact he employed it in all his writings. He simply believed knowledge cannot lead to faith, and knowledge gained outside of faith is untrustworthy.
131 Christians Everyone Should Know.

This faith is not brought about by our effort, but faith comes by hearing and hearing comes by the word of God, according to

Romans 10:17 (ESV) So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

2 Peter 3:18 (ESV) But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

Mark 16:5-7 (NKJV) And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples–and Peter–that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.”

100 Verses #64: James 1:2

64. James 1:2

Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials. —James 1:2

James1_2-4

The old translations say, “Count it all joy.” The word count or consider is a Greek word meaning to think things through, to consider things mentally, to look at something from a different mind-set. The actual Greek term means “to make a decision about something after weighing all the facts and circumstances.”

When believers have a series of reversals or difficulties, our first emotions and reactions may be painful; but we have divine resources, divine help, and divine truth to help us as we think it through and work it out in our minds. In so doing we’ll come to a different conclusion about our problems than a non-Christian would.

I remember hearing my wife talk about her mother, Hilja, a wonderful Finnish-American who loved the Lord. On one occasion she received terrible news. It was like a blow in the stomach. But as Katrina remembers it, her mother took off her apron, left the house, and walked for what seemed like hours in the fields and lanes near her home in inland Maine, thinking things through, praying about it, and giving it to the Lord. When she returned, she was composed and better able to deal with the situation.

If we can think things through from the Lord’s perspective, our feelings respond. We know that God intends to use these things for our good and for His glory, and we can count it all joy. I like the way the Phillips version puts this passage: When all kinds of trials and temptations crowd into your lives my brothers, don’t resent them as intruders, but welcome them as friends! Realize that they come to test your faith and to produce in you the quality of endurance.

Joy Ridderhof, founder of Gospel Recordings, turned to James 1:2 again and again. In one of her autobiographical devotional books, she told of traveling in the South Pacific. “When I arrived in New Zealand I found that my one suitcase had been lost in transit. I remembered to ‘count it all joy’ and what do you think happened? My host and hostess who owned a department store completely outfitted me for my travel in cold New Zealand! Besides this my host asked for my ticket which just took me as far as Australia, and exchanged it for a round-the-world-ticket—a gift! When I arrived in Australia and needed to attend to the securing of visas for my stops in various countries, I found that to apply for entrance required exactly the sort of ticket I’d been given…. When I arrived in Sydney airport, there waiting for me right before my eyes was my lost bag…! While we wait for His answers, let us ‘count it all joy!’”

[Count it all joy] is one of those Scripture paradoxes which nevertheless, the more we consider them will be found the more certainly true. —William Gresley

Today’s Theme Song: Because of YOU!

“Because Of You”
Every time I lift my hands it’s because of You.
Every time I lift my voice it’s because of You.
Every time I give You praise it’s because of You.
Every time I bless your name it’s because of You.

It’s because of You that I sing.
It’s because of You that I pray.
It’s because of You that I worship and bow down to Your name everyday.
It’s because of You that I dance.
It’s because of You that I shout.
It’s because of You that I leap for joy with a heart that has no doubt.

[repeat]

It’s because of You…

It’s because of You that I sing.
It’s because of You that I pray.
It’s because of You that I worship and bow down to Your name everyday.
It’s because of You that I dance.
It’s because of You that I shout.
It’s because of You that I leap for joy with a heart that has no doubt.

It’s because of You…

Good Morning from #Guam

Good Morning

Psalm 143:8 (ESV) Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.

Psalm 90:14 (ESV) Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Good Morning Coffee

A Song for Morning and Evening

It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening.

Psalm 92:2

Composer Franz Schubert died destitute in Vienna at the age of thirty-one, leaving nothing but his clothes and what his brother called “some old music.” It transpired that this “old music” contained a series of beautiful songs (lieder) which are still performed today. One of his best known song series was based on twenty poems written by a traveling horn player. We know nothing of the horn player’s travails, but we know enough of Schubert’s life to marvel that a man experiencing such pain and sadness could write such beautiful music. Schubert wrote to a friend, “I feel myself to be the most unhappy, unfortunate creature in the world. . . . Every night, when I go to sleep, I hope I will not wake again, and every morning reminds me only of yesterday’s unhappiness.”1 The ancient book of Psalms is another song series. The psalms have been in use for millennia in the liturgy and life of the people of Israel. Psalm 92, for instance, is a song “to be sung on the Lord’s day” (Ps. 92:title). This does not mean that ancient worshipers sang praises only on the Lord’s day. Those who follow the psalmist’s thinking know that “it is good to proclaim [the Lord’s] unfailing love in the morning, [his] faithfulness in the evening” (92:2). Every morning, every evening.

Morning and evening thankfulness is good, not only because it lifts the downcast soul and makes the godly “flourish like palm trees” (92:12), but also because it is an expression that comes from the satisfied soul. That soul can say, “You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me!” (92:4), and marvels, “Lord, . . . how deep are your thoughts” (92:5). The thankful heart is made “strong as a wild bull” and exclaims, “How refreshed I am by your power!” (92:10).

Welcome and Good to see you

I’d like to welcome two new followers and assorted drive by viewers.  And while I am greeting and sharing, I want to say something for everybody.  If you find you are having a problem with a post for any reason, leave me a comment, or back out the the site and do a contact message.  I want to know what people are having a problem with or not reacting well to.  I am not saying I am going to please all of you.

I am mindful of a preacher who once told me that it was definitely his intent to step on my toes if I was out of line.  Early in my new found faith I sometimes wondered if the preacher was spying on me because it was like he was reading me right over the pulpit.  Turns out he was letting the Holy Ghost convict me through his messages.

So anyway, this isn’t a feel good post like the coffee post I did a few days ago…but that was a fun post..My intent is to reach out and start a conversation with whoever wants one.

Here’s an interesting bit I got from my pastor this week. Take a look at this passage in

Revelation 22:17 (KJV) And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Whosoever will in one form or another shows up 44 times in the Bible. It is alway an implied or stated fork in the road, like the one above, the recommended good course is to take of the waters freely, the implication is that some will not and will not be blessed.

So come, drink freely of the waters (Spirit).

Come, now is the time to worship

Come, now is the time to worship
Come, now is the time to give your heart
Come, just as you are to worship
Come, just as you are before your God
Come
One day ev’ry tongue will confess You are God
One day ev’ry knee will bow
Still the greatest treause remains for those,
Who gladly choose you now
Come, now is the time to worship
Come, now is the time to give your heart
Come, just as you are to worship
Come, just as you are before your God
Come
One day ev’ry tongue will confess You are God
One day ev’re knee will bow
Still the greates treasure remains for those,
Who gladly choose you now
Ooh, we’re calling You
Calling all nations
Now is the time
One day ev’ry tongue will confess You are God
One day ev’ry knee will bow
Still the greatest treasure remains for those,
Who gladly choose you now
One day ev’ry tongue will confess You are God
One day ev’re knee will bow
