He Loves Me

HE LOVES ME

This verse tells me that I ought to lay down my life for the brethren because Christ laid down His life for me. So, what does that mean for you? Should you be a doormat for everyone, or should you, starting with your brothers and sisters in Christ, put their needs above yours.  A big part of what we have been talking is about, is making better eternal choices rather than satisfying your own desires immediately.  This is a matter of training and yes, I should mention that you need to turn your life over to God now, and again every single day for the rest of your natural life.

1 John 3:16 ASV

Hereby know we love, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Matthew 28:20 (KJV)
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

He Loves Me

He loves me even when I fall beneath His will
He loves me, oh, oh, oh, He loves me
When my broken heart just won’t keeps still
He loves me oh, oh, oh, He loves me

Even though He knew sometimes I’d fall
Yet and still my name He called, He loves me
Jesus, I’m so grateful for Your love

He loves me even though I was born in sin
He loves me, oh, oh, oh, He loves me, yeah
Took me like I was and now I’m free again, yeah
He loves me, yeah, oh, oh, oh, He loves me

Daily Service: Envy?

Daily Service: Envy?

Okay I wrote a question in my church notes margin in October and never got back to it until now.  It says: James 4:5, what is the intent of this verse? I finally did the word study, broke out 10 translations and read 3 commentaries.  I quoted the Bible Knowledge Commentary below because I think the third interpretation is most likely because I don’t read anywhere that God’s Spirit in me is provoked to jealousy about anything.  Specifically if I go back to the Fruit of the Spirit I find the nine qualities indicated are completely opposed to jealousy.Daily Service: Fruit of the Spirit; Love

James 4:4-6 (KJV) Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. [Proverbs 3:34, 1 Peter 5:5)

4:5. This is one of the most difficult verses to translate in the entire letter. A very literal translation would be, “Or think you that vainly the Scripture says to envy yearns the spirit which was made to dwell in you, but He gives great grace.” Is the “spirit” the Holy Spirit or the human spirit? Is the spirit to be taken as the subject of the verb “yearns” or as its object? Is “envy” to be seen as “unrighteous desire” or as “righteous jealousy”? Numerous translations are possible: (a) “The Spirit who indwells you jealously yearns [for you] and He gives more grace.” (b) “He [God] yearns jealously for the Holy Spirit which indwells you and He gives more grace.” (c) “The [human] spirit which indwells you yearns to envy, but He [God] gives more grace.” The niv favors the latter idea: Or do you think… that the spirit He caused to live in us tends toward envy, but “He gives us more grace?” (v. 6)

Not only is the translation of the sentence a problem, but also the apparent indication that it is a part of Scripture poses difficulties. James’ question, typically rhetorical, “or do you think Scripture says without reason” (kenōs, lit., “vainly”), introduces the section. The ambiguous sentence that follows is not a direct quotation of any passage in Scripture. Rather than assume that James quoted some other sacred book, or some unknown Greek translation of the Old Testament, or that he simply referred to the general sense of Scripture, it seems more reasonable to assume that he focused on the quotation in verse 6, a statement clearly taken from Proverbs 3:34: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (also quoted in 1 Peter 5:5).

Daily Service: the greatest of these

Daily Service: The greatest of these is love

1 Corinthians 13:13 (AMP) And so faith, hope, love abide [faith—conviction and belief respecting man’s relation to God and divine things; hope—joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation; love—true affection for God and man, growing out of God’s love for and in us], these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Greatest commandment is love, Above all of these is Love.  Are you getting the impression I hope that because God REALLY loves you that you ought to be showing His Love to others? Yes, preacher call out sin for what it is.  But make sure they know that if they sin they have an advocate with the father.

Lost without God

Healthline article about holiday depression

Okay I’ll connect all of these posts when I get home and get on a computer.

In prayer this morning before service, I asked God what he wanted me to do. The Sunday school lesson was the 5th in a series our pastor has been working on was titled what’s next.

So I challenge you especially if you name yourself Christian to look around you.  Who do you know amongst your family, friends, coworkers that might be feeling about blue and lonely this holiday season? Offer them the love and grace that God granted you and tier them that there is hope.

Lost without God

I was just wondering as I reread my Holiday Blues post.  Do you think in general people that commit suicide over the holidays simply lack the knowledge that God Loves them?

To clarify, if you read the post I have dear close Christian friends that recognize those blues because they’ve been there.  And more to the point, they knew that only relying on God would bring them through it.

Look around you this season and see if you can give someone some hope.  I invite all of you to join me at the church I attend.

Don’t save it all

I was praying this morning as I headed out to check the mail and go to the pharmacy for my wife (She woke up with that virus or whatever is running around our church after a Ladies Christmas Fellowship).  I was asking God what I should put out after that last post (Daily Service: Greatest Commandment)

When the word LOVE invaded again, and this song was playing as I was driving.  In a nutshell, don’t just love everybody extra because it’s Christmas.  Love everybody around you extra all the time.

Avalon – Joy “Don’t save it all for Christmas Day”

“Don’t Save It All For Christmas Day”
Don’t get so busy that you miss
Giving just a little kiss to the ones you love
Don’t even wait a little while
To give them just a little smile, a little is enough

See how many people are crying
Some people are dying
How many people are asking for love

So don’t save it all for Christmas day
Find a way to give a little love everyday
Don’t save it all for Christmas day
Find a way, ’cause holidays have come and gone
But love lives on if you give on love

How could you wait another minute
A hug is warmer when you’re in it, oh, baby, that’s a fact
And saying, ‘I love you’s” always better
Seasons, reasons, they don’t matter, so don’t hold back

See how many people in this world
So needful in this world
How many people are praying for love

So don’t save it all for Christmas day
Find a way to give a little love everyday
Don’t save it all for Christmas day
Find a way, ’cause holidays have come and gone
But love lives on if you give on, give love

So let all the children know
Everywhere that they go
Their whole life long
Let them know love

Daily Service: Greatest Commandment

Daily Service Greatest Commandment

Matthew 22:34-40 (ESV) But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

If you love God and your Neighbor, all of the Law is satisfied.  The ministry of Christ was LOVE and reconciliation.  If I am a follower of Christ I must LOVE the way He Loved ME.
