Daily Service: He is Risen
As we enter the Lenten season and Easter Approaches I’d like to ask you what you believe and why? I can tell you for me: I believe that Christ died for me, I believe that he was crucified and buried, and I believe he rose again. Look at our reading from Matthew 28 today. The ruling Jews bribed the guards to say that the disciples stole his body. Don’t believe everything you here, but run it past the Bible test first. Is it true?
What makes Jesus God and Lord of all?
He rose from the dead as he said he would.
Luke 24:46 AMP And said to them, thus it is written that the Christ (the Messiah) should suffer and on the third day rise from (among) the dead, [Hos. 6:2.][1]
Luke 24:6 AMP He is not here but has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still in Galilee [2]
No other god or religion can say the same.
How important is it? The Jewish leadership of the Day and the Roman authorities feared that what he said was true. They put a huge stone over his grave (not commonly done at that time) and placed guards on the tomb (also not commonly done). What were they afraid of? He is risen. Death has no hold on him or you if you accept Him as Savior.
Matthew 27: 62-66 KJV Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, after three days I will rise again. Command therefore that the sepulcher be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He has risen from the dead: so, the last error shall be worse than the first. Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can. So they went and made the sepulcher sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.[3]
