Daily Service: The Enemy’s Strategy

Psalm 139:13-16 (ESV) I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

As you might guess from my numerous daily posts, I have access to a lot of devotionals and to tell the truth I don’t get to all of them every day. But my latest addition might prove most fruitful to my writing. I have always admired and tried to follow the example of Dr. Joni Eareckson Tada. My latest Kindle download is her “Diamonds in the Dust: 366 Sparkling Devotions”. Today’s entry was particularly interesting because I know she deals with her paralysis a lot better than I ever could. Her point today involved not giving the Devil any space. She was having a rough time getting out of bed and she actually cursed her body because it didn’t cooperate. God nudged her with the verse above and reminded her that God has her back no matter what. This has been a good week for me but as I get older and deal with the ravages of time, including loss of body parts to cancer, I have to sit up and thank God for the day before my body has a chance to complain and do otherwise.
