Daily Service: Things are different today Dad
My daughter and I were having a discussion today after my sons and I had a disagreement concerning my recommendation on Facebook to boycott the new Disney animated film Onward. My sons said the “gay agenda” of Disney concerning one character was way overblown by the conservative press, which I conceded was a possibility. My daughter made a point that I disagreed with: she said that society today isn’t opposed to the idea of gays, transgenders, pan sexual (she actually said that).
Two points I wish to make:
The Bible says there is nothing new under the sun
Ecclesiastes 1:9-11 (NKJV) That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which it may be said, “See, this is new”? It has already been in ancient times before us. There is no remembrance of former things, nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come by those who will come after.
Any society which is hedonistic (pleasure for self is most important) is doomed to failure. Look at Rome and the Colosseum. Political correctness is not an excuse for sin. Sin is anything that separates you from God
1 Corinthians 3:18-23 (NKJV) Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”; and again, “The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours:
whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come–all are yours. And you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.
You think about that. Amen!
