Daily Bible Reading: Proverbs 25-26, 2 Corinthians 9
Proverbs 25:6-7 NKJV Do not exalt yourself in the presence of the king,
And do not stand in the place of the great; For it is better that he say to you,
“Come up here,” Than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince,
Whom your eyes have seen.[1]
25:6–7. It is wrong for a person to try to promote himself to a king, claiming to be great when he is not. It is far better for the king to promote him than for the king to humiliate him in front of a nobleman whose position the status seeker is desiring. Christ illustrated this in a parable (Luke 14:7–10)[2]
