Daily Service: Wait on the Lord

We live in an instant generation. Microwaves, the Internet, Google, and even my Bible Apps have all conditioned us to expect instant answers to everything. And we lump God into all of that when we are impatient with him over a situation that He should have fixed a long time ago (okay that was me and my frustration).  How about you?  Have you felt disappointed because you did not get the answer you wanted right away?  Yes, I loaded that one up, didn’t I?

Isaiah 40: 28-31 NKJV Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might, He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary,

And the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.^[1]

31. mount up—(2 Sa 1:23). Rather, “They shall put forth fresh feathers as eagles” are said to renovate themselves; the parallel clause, “renew their strength,” confirms this. The eagle was thought to molt and renew his feathers and with them his strength, in old age (so the Septuagint, Vulgate, Ps 103:5). However, the English Version is favored by the descending climax, mount up—run—walk; in every attitude, the praying, waiting child of God is “strong in the Lord” (Ps 84:7; Mic 4:5; Heb 12:1).^[2]

2 Col 4:16-18 AMP Therefore we do not become discouraged (utterly spiritless, exhausted, and wearied out through fear).
