A fictional look at the French Revolution from the perspective of a nobleman’s daughter on the run, assaulted by brigands acting like soldiers with authority and taken from n by a farmer who has been abused by the same nobility but finds himself falling for the young lady as she is nursed back to health. This was a good look at the view in the trenches of the revolution. It is pretty clear that the nobility was put to death but replaced with unscrupulous men under the color of authority. Quite a good read.
