Book Review: They called her Mrs Doc by Janette Oke

They Called Her Mrs. Doc (Women of the West, #5)

Kindle
They Called Her Mrs. Doc by Janette Oke
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Rereading old favorites. Janette Oke never disappoints. This is the 5th in her Women of the West series (Canadian West that is). Cassie is the daughter of a prominent physician and teacher who brings home promising candidates before they set off on internships. Cassie meets Samuel Smith but initially rejects him because he is going west to practice in his hometown near Calgary. Long story short, she falls for him and follows him anyway, becoming over time a mother, church organist, and assistant to the doctor. 5 children lead to 14 grandchildren before it is all done. The whole book is written as a reflection from her rocking chair after her husband’s death. What I found most encouraging was her finding out that going to church doesn’t mean knowing your savior until you ask.
