11/14/18 Daily Bible Reading: Ezekiel 6-8, 1 Peter 5, Proverbs 14

Picture this: Israel is God’s chosen people, but they kept turning away to the idolatry of the old religions. Does anybody see a type or a shadow here?

Ezekiel

Ezekiel 6:1-7 (KJV)
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy against them, And say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys; Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places.
And your altars shall be desolate, and your images shall be broken: and I will cast down your slain men before your idols. And I will lay the dead carcases of the children of Israel before their idols; and I will scatter your bones round about your altars. In all your dwellingplaces the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate; that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your images may be cut down, and your works may be abolished. And the slain shall fall in the midst of you, and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

1 Peter 5:1-4 (NKJV)
The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.

Daily Service: Hide Your WORD in my heart

DAY 90 Hide Your WORD in my Heart

Again my rant on getting into your Bible.  Why is it so important, in a world that pulls you in all directions, that you work on Bible verse memorization?  Consider David in Psalms:

Psalm 119:11-16 (KJV)
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.
With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.
I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.
I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.

I can tell you that a good Bible believing, Bible reading, Bible singing church where you get involved (not just sitting on a pew trying to not to slip off or fall asleep) will ingrain scripture in your heart and mind so that when trials, worries, sickness, temptation come your way, those scriptures hidden in your heart will serve to guide you.  Do we all understand that there are times when you won’t have a Bible close by?

Commit yourself to building up your faith.

Ezekiel 1:24 (ASV)
And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings like the noise of great waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a noise of tumult like the noise of a host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

1 Peter 4:1 (AMP)
SO, SINCE Christ suffered in the flesh for us, for you, arm yourselves with the same thought and purpose [patiently to suffer rather than fail to please God]. For whoever has suffered in the flesh [having the mind of Christ] is done with [intentional] sin [has stopped pleasing himself and the world, and pleases God],

10 Questions About the Compatibility of Islam with America — The Coach’s Team

Appearing in American Thinker on November 10th by Frank Hawkins Wikipedia defines Islamophobia as the fear, hatred of or prejudice against the Islamic religion or Muslims, especially when seen as a geopolitical force or the source of terrorism. Yes, many people around the globe who identify with Islam are good, hard working, loving people. But […]

book names needed

Okay so I just put two of my works over on Kindle and apparently they aren’t moving because the titles aren’t catching attention.

So somebody here help me out… I have a short story about a girl that goes off the college and finds God in the process, coming back to a boyfriend who never left and now is nervous about their relationship.  I titled it Love Beach because that is where they started and where they ended up. Unfortunately Love  and Beach figure into literally hundreds of Kindle Romance novels, so that is hitting a wall.

Second I have a compilation of posts from Facebook and other places generally Christian based, filled with scriptures. I called it ‘Thoughts from the Road: God is watching us”.

And Thougths from the Road is not a new title either.

Both Kindle books might get pulled and reconfigured but I really need some input.

Daily Service: I am a sinful man

DAY 89

I am a sinful man

My sin is ever before me.  I woke up with this passage on my heart today.  I am not condemning anyone but myself here.  I need to first, be honest.  Man (all of us collectively) is born in sin, lives in sin, and will die in his sin if he doesn’t acknowledge that sin and turn from it.  David acknowledges his sinful state and asks God to cleanse him. Notice in the Amplified Bible the notation [and repeatedly].  Once you turn to God and ask forgiveness, you will need to strive for holiness but be willing to admit your short comings. There isn’t any bargaining here, just David saying I’m wrong, you are right.

Also note the cross reference in the Amplified Bible to Romans 3.

Psalm 51:1-4 (AMP)
HAVE MERCY upon me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to the multitude of Your tender mercy and loving-kindness blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly [and repeatedly] from my iniquity and guilt and cleanse me and make me wholly pure from my sin! For I am conscious of my transgressions and I acknowledge them; my sin is ever before me. psalm51_2Against You, You only, have I sinned and done that which is evil in Your sight, so that You are justified in Your sentence and faultless in Your judgment.[Romans 3:4]

Romans 3:3-4 (AMP)
What if some did not believe and were without faith? Does their lack of faith and their faithlessness nullify and make ineffective and void the faithfulness of God and His fidelity [to His Word]? By no means! Let God be found true though every human being is false and a liar, as it is written, That You may be justified and shown to be upright in what You say, and prevail when You are judged [by sinful men].

Romans 3:23-24 (KJV)
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

3:23. Paul explained that “no difference” existed among human beings because all have sinned. The Greek is literally, “all sinned” (pantes hēmarton). The same two Greek words are used in 5:12 (cf. comments on that verse). Since the entire human race was plunged into sin with Adam, all (whether Jews or Gentiles) are sinners. It is impossible to say there is a “difference,” that the Jews’ privileges (2:12-21; 3:1) exclude them from God’s condemnation.

Not only did all sin, but also all fall short. This single Greek verb is in the present tense, stressing continuing action. It can be translated “keep on falling short.” The simple fact is that as a sinner not a single human being by his own efforts is able to measure up to the glory of God. God’s glory is His splendor, the outward manifestation of His attributes. God desires that humans share that splendor, that they become like Him, that is, Christlike (cf. “glory” in 5:2; 2 Cor. 3:18; Col. 1:27; 2 Thes. 2:14). Yet their sin keeps them from sharing it.

11/10/18 Daily Bible Reading: Lamentations 2-4, 1 Peter 3, Proverbs 10

Lamentations 3:37-40 (AMP)
Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, if the Lord has not authorized and commanded it?
Is it not out of the mouth of the Most High that evil and good both proceed [adversity and prosperity, physical evil or misfortune and physical good or happiness]? Why does a living man sigh [one who is still in this life’s school of discipline]? [And why does] a man complain for the punishment of his sins? Let us test and examine our ways, and let us return to the Lord!

1 Peter 3:1-4 (NKJV)
Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear. Do not let your adornment be merely outward–arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel– rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
