Daily Service: No greater love

 I reflected on this passage, posted one of the verses as verse of the day, and even commented that it was appropriate for Memorial Day (USA).  It is my greatest challenge to be selfless enough that I would willingly lay down my life so that others might live.  But notice the context of the verse: verse 12 “love one another as I have loved you” and verse 14 “You are my friends IF (conditional) you do whatever I command you.  So by extension we are not His friend and not deserving of His love if we do not obey Him.

John 15:12-14 (NKJV) This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.  You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

But we see at the core of this passage the greater love that Christ has for us.  God Bless you all and thank a Veteran for their service today. That’s your #outreach assignment.
