Open Your Bible
Updated for volume 22 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. [1] Luke 14:26 ESV
Does the Bible really say that I should hate my family? Hate – again the translation problem. This is like the Greek having 7 forms of love. Christ is just saying that you must put Him first above everything and everyone else. This is why I also like the Amplified Bible.
If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his [own] father and mother [in the sense of indifference to or relative disregard for them in comparison with his attitude toward God] and [likewise] his wife and children and brothers and sisters—[yes] and even his own life also—he cannot be My disciple. [2] Luke 14:26 Amp
